Dual Boot 2000/XP problem

It doesn't seem "safe" if Windows blows away the multiboot MBR that FreeBSD so carefully made! Windows overwriting the MBR seems to be the reason people recommend out whatever changes to the MBR and the partition/slice tables that the new hardware required so that Windows didn't feel obligated to "fix" things.

Gilles has a FAQ that discusses the multiboot problem and the method for including LILO for booting. For Linux, booting is handled by NT Loader; the boot block is placed in the Linux root partition, NOT in the MBR. Gilles also has a handy routine for fixing NT's MBR if it gets screwed up.

As for the repair installation fixing the Windows directory paths, I sure would like to hear definite confirmation from someone that this works, because it would be a nice way to fix this problem of moving Windows from D: to C:. I've heard the suggestion a few times, but I don't recall any positive responses.

fdisk - 80G HD
He has ready has it set up to multiboot for those two operating systems. When the Disk druid/fdisk option comes up, He chooses disk druid and it doesn't see any other partition. It just shows the entire HD as empty. How do we fix this problem? Thank you. Mike Turner
